For decades, the Baltimore Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has been
dedicated to uplifting the Baltimore community through educational support and empowerment.

The Red Torch Scholarship
Applications Open: March 15, 2025
Deadline to Apply: April 30, 2025
The Red Torch Scholarship is a one-time $2,000 award for graduating high school seniors who reside in Baltimore City or Baltimore County. This scholarship celebrates students who demonstrate academic achievement, leadership, and community involvement, supporting their journey to a brighter future.

Eligibility
Interviews for finalists will take place during the week of May 12, 2025. Recipients will be notified by June 30, 2025. > Must be a graduating high school senior residing in Baltimore City or Baltimore County. > Must be an African American student reflecting the predominantly African American heritage of the sorority. > Applicants must enroll in a four-year college, community college, or vocational school for the upcoming academic year as a full-time student. > A cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher is required. > Consideration will be given to applicants who demonstrate financial need. > A demonstrated commitment to community service and extracurricular activities is strongly encouraged. **Exception: Children and grandchildren of Baltimore Alumnae Chapter members are not eligible to apply for the scholarship.

Memorial Scholarship for Excellence
Applications Open in 2026
Named in honor of our Founder and esteemed Charter Member, this prestigious $2,000
renewable scholarship supports exceptional students from Baltimore City and Baltimore
County. In addition to financial support, recipients benefit from personalized mentorship by a
member of the Baltimore Alumnae Chapter, designed to guide them through their academic
journey and foster their success.
While the Vashti Turley Murphy Memorial Scholarship is not currently accepting applications, the cycle will open in the spring of 2026. Check back for updates on this opportunity.
